Activity ID: 2025-03-08T15:00:00-HSS-001 (version 3)
Event End Time:
Peak Solar Wind Speed (km/s): 700.0
Date of first appearance of coronal hole in EUV at east limb: 2025-03-01
Note: Characterized by an initial increase in solar wind speed starting around 2025-03-08T15:00Z from 400 km/s to 600 km/s, before decreasing back to ~400 km/s around 2025-03-08T21:00Z. A second, more sustained increase in solar wind speed begins around 2025-03-08T21:40Z and reaches a maximum of ~700 km/s at 2025-03-09T09:18Z. An increase in temperature is observed alongside the increases in solar wind speeds, with an initial increase starting around 2025-03-08T15:00Z reaching 800k K, followed by a secondary increase starting around 2025-03-08T21:40Z also reaching around 800k K (although temperature data becomes spurious during the second observed increase). This signature was preceded by an amplification of magnetic field components starting around 2025-03-08T04:50Z, with Btotal reaching a maximum of 18nT at 2025-03-08T16:05Z, as well as an increase in density starting around 2025-03-07T17:00Z and reaching a maximum of 30 particles/cc around 2025-03-08T02:20Z. This coronal hole high speed stream is likely associated with a coronal hole (centered around latitude N10) which reached the central meridian on 2025-03-05.
